The girls’ STREAM/Robotics Club, named “Team Rovera” (a female rover) competed in its very first robot competition this Saturday. The Triangle Math and Science Academy 5th Annual Line Following Invitational Competition included 11 teams from the local area. Each team built a LEGO robot to race on a line course with many turns and twists that the robot had to detect and navigate quickly. We entered two robots in the K-5 age group, and our girls took 2nd and 3rd place against some teams with far more experience. We are extremely proud of the ingenuity, teamwork, and sportsmanship that Team Rovera demonstrated.
LuminousSTREAM is intended to support and enrich girls thru STREAM (Science Technology Robotics Engineering Arts Math). While a portion of the time is spent working with FLL (FIRST Lego League) it will not be limited to just FFL. During the downtime and off season, we will work on exploring other facets of STREAM e.g. Space, Chemistry, Engineering, Architecture and so on.
